Begunjscica

This is an afternoon view from Begunjscica towards Julian Alps in the distance. Triglav dominates above the range and the lower parts are covered with thick layer of clouds. People down there are blanketed by thick clouds and have no clue about the blue skies up here.

Begunjscica is a pleasant 2 to 3 hours long hike. The hike begins above Begunje, a village close to Radovljica and Bled. The climb is easy and the view from the summit is excellent.

This photo was taken on January 1st, 2001. A bit of climbing can be a nice therapy after the New year's party... This is roughly the halfway to the summit.

This is not Begunjscica, but a neighbouring peak called Vrtaca. The picture shows south face of Vrtaca and it was taken from the trail to the summit of Begunjscica on a perfect winter day.

About an hour below the top, there's a very scenic spot, Roblek, and a mountain hut. From Roblek you have an open view towards Stol, which is the highest mountain in Karavanke range. Stol is behind my back. Look closely and you might find a hut just below the summit of Stol.
