Grintovec

Let's start with a picture of the Kamniske alpe range from the lowlands. The picture shows Kocna, Grintovec and Skuta from left to right. Further to the right there are Kalski Greben and Krvavec. These two are considerably lower. While Grintovec *is* the highest mountain in this range, it's almost matched by Kocna on the left and Skuta on the right.

Even though Grintovec is the highest, it's the easiest to climb. Kocna and Skuta are both much more difficult. Two good starting points are on the south side: Kamniska Bistrica Valley and Kokra. From these spots, head towards Kokrsko sedlo. There's a hut there, Cojzova koca; and it'll take you 3 hours to reach it. From Cojzova koca, you'll be on top in around 2 hours.
You can also climb from the north side. This trail is a bit more difficult as it has some fairly steep parts. Beginners should probably avoid this one. Count on 5 hours to reach the summit.

This is how Grintovec looks like from the northwest. The picture was taken from the summit of Kocna. The south face (on the right of the picture) is fairly easy. It has a distinctive name: Streha (the roof). Grintovec is a good choice for occasional hikers, who wish to climb a peak of its size. But they must be in shape, because it is a full day affair after all. Of course, this can always be split in two days, with an overnight stay in Cojzova koca.

Ceska koca, shown on the left, is a very hospitable place and a good starting point for northern access. To reach this hut, you will have to hike for about an hour. And once here, you'll need 4 hours to conquer Grintovec. Other peaks that you can reach from here are Skuta and Kocna. As it's surrounded by the three highest peaks in the range, the location of this hut is quite spectacular.

This is Jure, showing off on this little peak. Not a lot of space up there. His pony tail has in the meantime been cut off.
