...music professor, born 1964, graduated 1990 at Academy of Music, Ljubljana, until 1992 music program producer at Slovenian national radio station Radio Slovenia, Ljubljana.

Since 1992 freelance musician: composer, singer and multiinstrumentalist. Performing and arranging traditional music and composing, performing and sometimes recording my own music, strictly on traditional and acoustic instruments. Have initially played with some folk dance groups, later on with groups performing Slovenian traditional music- Trinajsto prase, Marko banda, Črnobela muzika… Researching sound combinations, combining different traditional instruments, most of them Slovenian ones, using also classical and sometimes traditional instruments of other cultures, playing and experimenting with academic and non-academic principles and looking for archetypal way of expression, as well as - at the same time - for a different way of expression… Using tempered and non-tempered instruments…

...worked together with many slovenian musicians and bands…

...with singer Barbara Šantl (now Gabrielle) recorded CD Erosija (poetry by Zvezdana Majhen ) in 2001, for which had composed the music and played all the instruments…

...for the recordings usually performing own music and also making some of the instruments…

...additionally I have made some music for documentaries, feature movies, for theatre, cartoons and the radio...

...performing traditional music for primary and secondary school students, occasionally also at events like openings of exhibitions, museums, libraries…

...also, researching traditional styles of performing and teaching how to play traditional music: children, young people and musicians from folk dance groups in coordination with JSKD (Public foundation for cultural activities of Slovenia)- at International folklore festival at Beltinci - Prekmurje...

...also occasionaly giving lectures on related themes for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, ocassionaly for other institutions (including universities)...

...creating radio programs about traditional music and cultures of aboriginal and other peoples of the world for radio Slovenia …

Used to write music reviews for some newspapers…

But…  »Talking about music is like dancing about architecture…« ( Steve Martin )  ...so, here are also some (short) examples. Enjoy!

The groups:

Trinajsto Prase (the name of the group means "the thirteenth pig"): three friends joined in 1987 to enjoy playing traditional music the »old way«. We performed music of various parts of Slovenia, did not have a leader; we had some fun for some time… I left in 1993 and the group stopped performing, with the exception of two concerts in 2005 (Ljubljana, Palermo).

Marko banda : Group from Prekmurje Region in Northeastern Slovenia, where I currently live (near Hungary). I still play with them from time to time.

Črnobela muzika: some members of Marko banda (which at the time of the formation of ČBM momentarily did not exist) invited me to play with them. I played violin, we played for about a year, predominantly music from Prekmurje Region...
